Zimbabwe makes three changes, elects to bowl first against Afghanistan – Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan Test
The much-anticipated Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe Test match kicked off in Harare with Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. The green surface, expected to offer early movement, convinced Ervine to put Afghanistan in to bat in this Afghanistan national cricket team vs Zimbabwe national cricket team match.
Zimbabwe introduced three changes from their previous Test against New Zealand in Bulawayo. Ben Curran, Richard Ngarava, and Brad Evans returned to the playing XI, replacing Sean Williams, Trevor Gwandu, and Vincent Masekesa. Curran will open the innings, while veteran Brendan Taylor shifts down to bat at No. 4.
For the visitors, Afghanistan, it’s a big day for three debutants — seamer Ziaur Rahman, spin-bowling allrounder Sharafuddin Ashraf, and legspinner Khalil Gurbaz — who have been handed their maiden Test caps. The top order features Ibrahim Zadran and Abdul Malik, while wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz takes a middle-order role.
